Inglewood
One of the original communities in Calgary, this historic community was home to the first “main street’ in Calgary.
The area continues to be a vibrant, historic, pedestrian- oriented neighbourhood and home of many of Calgary’s iconic institutions.
t was developed by a group headed by Acheson Irvine, Major John Stewart and James Macleod. Atlantic Avenue, now Ninth Avenue, was the first “main street” in the city.

The Inglewood Wildlands Park is a 36 hectare wildlife reserve with 2 kilometres of pathways open year round. The Wildlands Park is also home to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and Nature Centre. Pearce Estate Park is just north of the Inglewood Wildlands Park and is another 15 hectares of pathways, outdoor grilling pits, and home to the Bow Habitat Station. Local amenties are abound in Inglewood! Tennis courts, playgrounds and parks are plentiful. Take a dip at the Inglewood Aquatic Centren and enjoy all the amenities at the Inglewood Community Centre that includes a playground, event centre and and outdoor skating rink.

Local shops are the pulse of Inglewood. There is a store for everyone. Every single store is unique in some way, so start on one end, pick the north or south side of the street to walk down, and work your way back on the other side of the street.A few hours of exploring local shops in the neighbourhood and you’ll be ready to grab a bite to eat.
